As the semester (and grading) winded down, we met at the Cooper Hewitt on the Upper East Side to talk about our summer plans, course design, upcoming events, and tour the museum. The Cooper Hewitt is a design museum associated with the Smithsonian and based in an old mansion. We were particularly interested in one of the current exhibitions: The Senses: Design Beyond Vision. But first, we talked about the new design course, which we tentatively plan to teach in the Fall, Spring, and Summer as a one-credit course with distinct sections. We also continued with our plans to visit the Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama. We plan visit Montgomery this summer and design curriculum for the site. Later in the summer, we plan to inaugurate a space outside Jackie’s office for the lab. In October, we will host a launch party to share our initial Montgomery designs.
